Dance team works on technique

The Purrfections Dance team has begun “technique practices” in order to prepare for upcoming tryouts in the second week of April.

“These practices give the girls who need to work on different types of technique that extra time before we have tryouts,” junior Stephanie Shaw said. “Also it gives our coach a good idea of who can do what for next year.”

These practices will be held in the gym from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. March 12, 16 and 19 for current dance team members.  Both varsity and JV dance teams will be able to attend these practices.

“I am really excited for technique practices,” sophomore Brady Kelsey said. “I always look forward to them each year.”

The dance team will work on all types of turns and leaps at these practices to prepare them for tryouts on April 9, 10 and 13.

“The practices are not mandatory but they are advised,” Shaw said “You can kind of see how dedicated someone is depending on whether or not they go to these practices.”

These practices will give dance team members a chance to learn new skills and perfect the ones they already have.

“My goal is to improve my turns and get my leaps higher to make me an overall better dancer,” Kelsey said.
